The transvestite cabaret show has been a fixture on the entertainment scene in Bangkok for several years. Calypso has been razzle-dazzling since 1987 and remains a favourite, with changing routines to keep things fresh. Whilst the show changes from time to time, there is a basic formula that guarantees there will be traditional songs included in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, some high-camp western ballads, a little Thai culture and anything that demands feather boas and over-the-top outfits a la Carmen Miranda. Kaleidoscopic colours and glamour emanate from the stage, whilst the humour and cheekiness is never offensive. The performance is suitable and entertaining for all ages. include 'Journey Back to History' introducing the four distinct regions of
Thailand and their special cultures. 'Journey Beyond Imagination' visits
Buddhist earth, heaven and hell. Finally 'Journey Through Joyous Festivals'
features highlights from merit-making celebrations throughout the year such as
the uniquely Thai festival of Loy Krathong.
